The Food Law Academy offers an online programme in EU Food Law.
The programme is based on the 2020 edition of the EU Food Law Handbook. The course is intended for practitioners who work in or with food regulatory affairs, students, academics and others who take an interest in EU Food Law. Knowledge of law and/or the food sector is beneficial but not indispensable.
The course discusses seven core issues:
1) history and development of EU food law,
2) principles of EU food law,
3) authorisation requirements in EU food law (food additives, novel foods and GMOs),
4) process requirements (hygiene, traceability and recall)
5) food labelling in EU food law,
6) food law enforcement (official controls regulation and food fraud), and
7) the future of EU food law (farm to fork strategy).
To each issue one or more chapters of the handbook apply. Students are encouraged to study the literature and the sources of law. Each issue is explained in a video lecture. Most lectures have been live recorded, a few have been studio recorded and one is in the public domain.
Students can ask all their questions in online meetings (to a maximum of five hours in total) with an experienced teacher. Online meetings can be in small groups or individual.
Costs: € 925 excluding book and VAT (but including a possible 10% discount on the eBook edition of the book).
For this price you receive a course guide with a more detailed description of the course, links and passwords to a total of about 7 hours of video lectures. Online discussion meetings to be scheduled.
Subscription via contact form.
